The Postgraduation Program of Gynecology and Obstetrics was created in 1971 and is rated grade 5 in the CAPES evaluation. In 2003, the Program, which was only offered to physicians with specialization in gynecology and obstetrics with the option of training in Tocogynecology, started to be also offered to physicians of other specialties and to non-medical personnel with the option of training in the Biology of Reproduction. Most of these doctors are physicians from their specialties, biologists, biomedical graduates and physiotherapists. This new training option has permitted the strengthening of research lines in the multidisciplinary field, with bibliographic production and partnerships in research in related areas.
The general objective of the Program is the production of qualified internationally recognized research in the various aspects of the area of women’s health, allied to the training of highly qualified researchers/teachers.
The specific objectives concern the training of researchers/teachers directed at the qualification of our graduates so that they will gain scientific knowledge associated with the nucleation of research, and competence for obtaining a position in a Higher Education Institution, with the ability of acting as educators in the various areas of academic knowledge and of applying their knowledge to various sectors of the public health system.
