The Graduate Program in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics (PPg-CCMC) is one of the most traditional graduate programs in Brazil with MSc and PhD courses created in 1974 and 1995, respectively. The graduation of 1075 MSc and 257 PhD students by 2014 was accompanied by quality indexes that include awards received, overseas internships, and scientific papers published in selective venues.
The full-time faculty, associated with the Computer Science Department (SCC), the Computer Systems Department (SSC), and Applied Mathematics and Statistics Department (SME), is highly qualified. He majority of the supervisors hold research grants and coordinate funded collaborative projects involving research institutions in Brazil and abroad, as well as partnerships with companies and institutions of administration public.
The program is organized into five research lines:
Line 1: Database / Computer Graphics, Image Processing and Information Visualization;
Line 2: Software Engineering and Information Systems / Web Systems and Interactive Multimedia;
Line 3: Computational Intelligence;
Line 4: Distributed Systems and Concurrent Programming / Embedded Systems, and Evolutionary Robotics;
Line 5: Mechanics Computational Fluid / Optimization / Stochastic Models.
