The graduate program in Animal Science offers MS (since 1994) and PhD (since 2001) courses, contributing to the technical, scientific and social training of Brazilian and foreign students. The program has a group of researchers who have a multidisciplinary background, and works in different areas related to Animal Science, such as: (i) Basic Sciences applied to Animal Science, (ii) Animal Breeding and Reproduction (iii), Animal Nutrition and Production, (iv) Ethology, Bioclimatology, Rural Constructions and Ambience; (v) Production and Food Technology, (vi) Production and Management of Forage and Pasture Plants. 

The research carried out by members of the program are developed with the support of public and private institutions and have generated contributions of great relevance to the different segments of agriculture. The graduate program also has a great interaction with universities and research centers in Brazil and abroad, which enables its students a complete training on issues of international importance, related to teaching, research and development and application of solutions for the entire chain of animal production.
