Postgraduate Program on Child and Adolescent Health Master’s and Doctorate courses are being offered since 1971, initially in the Postgraduate Program of Pediatrics and, starting in 2006, in the Program of Child and Adolescent Health, linked to the Department of Puericulture and Pediatrics, for the training of teachers/ researchers in this area of knowledge.  

In the Master’s program, the students will mainly have to familiarize themselves with scientific and teaching methodology, and to delve deeper in their specific area of interest. In the Doctorate, the focus is on methodology of teaching and research, especially on the explicit definition of their own line of investigation, and dedication to it. To this end, the students, together with their advisers, will take optative classes that will help them to reach their objectives. 

The Program involves many research lines and infrastructure dedicated to clinical and laboratory investigations, both at individual and collective levels, in the field of epidemiology of child’s and adolescent’s health. The students will also be able to work on their research questions at the experimental level. The Program maintains close collaboration with other departments and research centers regarding the different modalities of investigation in Brazil and abroad, a fact that greatly expands the options available to the students.
