The Doctoral Program Pathology is mainly aimed to train researchers and teachers capable of producing different interfaces and advances in the study of disease understanding, valuing the inflow of students from different areas of knowledge to do their PhD under the guidance of supervisors in their research areas, encouraging interdisciplinary able to generate new knowledge, valuing and encouraging mentor-student relationship.
It is a consolidated program with comprehensive research lines and a range of very diverse disciplines, encompassing many areas of knowledge. It has made a large number of doctors for several years since 1975.
It has an area of concentration with eight lines of research: Evaluation of educational strategies and techniques; Pathogenesis and immunopathology of specific infectious diseases; Development of new techniques for modeling and management of information; Assessment of morbidity and mortality resulting from environmental pollution; Functional, histopathological and molecular changes of oncogenic processes; Evaluation of new therapeutic or interventional procedures in pathological processes; The biochemical, cellular and histological changes of acute or chronic pathological processes; The biochemical, cellular and histological changes in experimental models of pathological processes.
The program offers excellent infrastructure for research and training of human resources. It has laboratories with varied methodologies, sophisticated equipment and a hospital network of recognized excellence, as well as library and computer resources.
