Our objective is to form independent researchers and to create new knowledge with effective social insertion, to be released as publications and patents. We seek students with creative and innovative profile to help develop their ability to critically analyze an issue and apply the proper scientific methodology to investigate it, always respecting ethical principles. Cooperative and multidisciplinary research, as well as pursuit of funding by sponsors agencies, is encouraged.
The faculty is composed of 11 prominent outstanding researchers in the otolaryngology field that regularly investigate and publish in the following lines of research:
- Development of experimental biomolecular, electronic and surgical techniques for rehabilitation of the hearing and facial nerve function;
- Research on nerve stimulation prosthesis in the rehabilitation of profound deafness;
- Pathophysiological mechanisms in peripheral cochlea-vestibular disorders;
- Correlation between structural, functional and inflammatory disorders in the pathogenesis of rhinosinusitis;
- Research in applied endoscopic and radiological anatomy to nasosinusal and anterior skull base surgical approach;
- Impact of nasopharyngeal obstruction in stomatognathic and facial development and in obstructive sleep apnea;
- Anatomical and experimental study of the biomechanical properties of the larynx
