The graduate program in Plant Pathology offers the Master´s and Doctorate degrees and focus on the fundamental aspects of the causal agents of plant diseases related to their ability to infect their hosts and the impacts of the ensuing diseases. Our research lines include the biological characterization of fungi, bacteria, viruses and nematodes as plant pathogens; epidemiology; seed pathology; genetics, ultra-structure and physiology of plant-pathogen interactions; and control of post-harvest diseases.
It is one of the founding Graduate programs of ESALQ, being established in 1964, and presently has graduated 398 professionals. The program offers 18 courses and our Faculty comprises 11 advisors. It ranks among the top graduate courses in Agriculture, being awarded the highest accreditation score (7) in the last (2012) national evaluation.
