The program goal is training human resources in physiological sciences, including the comparative, ecological and evolutionary approaches of this discipline. The program targets mainly professionals in biological sciences and other life sciences.
The program aims at providing students with favorable conditions for understanding i) Physiology as an integrative discipline, ii) the convergence of Physiology with other areas of knowledge , iii) the diversity of approaches and the goals of contemporary Physiology , iv) the multiplicity of models and techniques , and v) the role of Physiology in the context of Brazilian biodiversity.
The program displays four main lines of research: 1) Neurosciences, chronobiology and behavior; 2) Cell Physiology; 3) Ecological and Evolutionary Physiology and 4) Teaching of Physiological Sciences. Typically, a degree requires two years for Master´s students and four years for doctoral students.
