The Postgraduate Course in Pharmacology, linked to the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo (ICB / USP) was created in December 1977 by Ordinance GR-1507, at Masters level, and accredited in 1981 by the Federal Council Education. On June 9th of that same year, the course at Doctorate level was introduced through Ordinances GR-885 and GR-1538. The Course is structured in seven areas of concentration: Neuroscience and Behavior; Cardiovascular Systems, Cardiorespiratory and Endocrine; Inflammation; Cell Biology and Tumor Development of Transgenic Animals; Pharmacogenomics; Nanopharmacology; Clinical Pharmacology.
The objectives of the Postgraduate Course in Pharmacology are related to the development of teaching and research activities and training of human resources, focusing on:
- Strengthening of theoretical and experimental research, as well as translational and clinical within the areas of concentration, to achieve scientific production in frontier areas;
- Training qualified scientists to disseminate their knowledge in other research centers;
- Maintain collaborations with researchers from national and international Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), strengthening the exchange of students and teachers.
