The Nursing Graduate Program (PPGE) of the School of Nursing, at the University of São Paulo, consists of Master and Doctorate courses, created in 1973 and 1989, respectively. It is designed for nurses and other professionals. 

The mission of the PPGE is to foster the advancement of knowledge and generate innovative changes in policies and care practices in nursing and health, integrating knowledge of nursing science to other disciplines. The focus is on current problems of health care in Brazil and worldwide, that affect individuals, families and community. 

Its purpose is to train professionals:

1) able to boost research and to lead actions in order to produce consistent and socially relevant knowledge to the current challenges for local and global health;

2) committed to the development of education and advanced clinical practice within the legal and ethical scope of the profession. 

It comprises the core area of “Health Care”, organized into three research lines: “Nursing and care in the health-disease process”, “Public health policies and human resources in nursing and health” and “Health-disease process of individuals, families, 

social groups and community”,For the Master, the selection process is annual. For the Doctorate, the selection follows the stream, according to specific edict.
