The Inter-institutional Doctoral Program in Nursing was developed jointly with the University of São Paulo, School of Nursing (São Paulo) and the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto, College of Nursing.
It was initiated in 1982 and was the first in Latin America in the field of nursing. The program was accredited by the Federal Council of Education on June 5th 1986 according to Protocol no. 363/86 and accreditation was renewed on February 17th 1994 according to Protocol 727/93 and it received grade 6 in the last CAPES evaluation.
It aims to enable solid scientific education of researchers in the health field, aiming to develop technical, scientific, and ethical-political competencies in the scope of research, care and teaching.
It produces knowledge in the field of health, reflecting the valorization of interdisciplinary work without loosing the “conducting wire” in the nursing field in relation to aspects that involve care delivered to the health-disease continuum in all dimensions as well as its understanding and explanation.
