The Graduate Program in Dermatology focus on the capacitation of the faculty members and researchers that will work on the Science field, including Medicine, Biomedicine, Biology, Pharmaceutical sciences, among others. Dermatology is a clinical and interventionist specialty with peculiar features; it comprehends the study of basic areas such as Morphology, Physiology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology and Pathology, with a close interface with Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Oncology and Plastic Surgery.
The aim of our program is to graduate skilled students to develop their ability to teach, and develop research lines in Dermatology and related areas, utilizing the skin as a model of pathologic processes of skin diseases, including inflammation, genetics, immunology, neoplastic processes and the intrinsic and extrinsic pathways of aging. Graduate students acquire expertise in teaching and in research in a broad area of Health Sciences. Physicians with background in Dermatology will be able to exert their academic skills, with emphasis on teaching and developing novel and specific research lines, training of young dermatologists, and stimulate the creation of interaction groups with other health professionals.
