The post-graduation course Dentistry (Restorative Dentistry) was approved by the Post-graduation committee of the School of Dentistry at the University of Sao Paulo in April 25th 1988. The Program was authorized by the Brazilian government (Capes) for the Master and PhD levels in September 3rd 1992.

The Program is designed to qualify the student as professor and researcher in the restorative Dentistry area.  Strategies of expositive classes, seminars, distance learning and the development of research projects will enable the student to be a future professor of both undergraduate and post-graduate programs, as well as a researcher of productive sectors of industry.

The curriculum structure is based on four lines of research, namely: Materials and direct and indirect restorative techniques; New technologies applied to Restorative Dentistry (RD); Carious and non-carious lesions and Education in RD.

The Masters course has maximum period of 24 months, the Doctorate 44 months, and the Direct Doctorate 50 months when students, graduated in the most different areas of knowledge besides Dentistry, undertake to work in full-time attending the disciplines and researching in the labs.
