The Graduate Program in Environmental Engineering Sciences (PPG-SEA) was launched in 1989 with activities at both master and doctoral levels. Their main activities are developed at the Center for Applied Sciences Engineering the Environment, linked to the School of Engineering of São Carlos - USP. The course seeks to highlight, identify, discuss and propose solutions for the environmental problems arising from the activities of man in their midst, and analyze ecosystems in order to characterize them and describe them, creating sources of information about the various aspects biotic, abiotic and anthropogenic some regions of Brazil. The current and ongoing concern in the search for means to achieve social welfare through sustainable development plans pathways demonstrates the mandatory need for new vision in relation to the environment. Thus, the topics covered in PPG-SEA through the various subjects taught and conducted experimental studies provide an overview of the various areas of knowledge necessary to the interdisciplinarity inherent in the environmental sciences. The multidisciplinarity of the PPG-SEA is consequence of its faculty and researchers coming from different departments of state and federal universities and research institutes.
